Photo Credit: Sheila Guevin Crofton Village Garden Club held a Standard Flower Show, County Fair, on Saturday, May 20th at Crofton Library. Our goal was to share our skills and knowledge of floral design, horticulture, and special garden club projects with the community. Several members received awards for their horticulture entries and design exhibits.

JoAnn Cook, Flower Show Horticulture Consultant, and garden club members Rena Pogue and Bonnie Pavlak met at Linthicum Walks to collect boxwood for the CVGC flower show, County Fair, that will take place on Saturday, May 20th at Crofton Library from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The show is free and open to the public.
Project Chair Camille DeVito and garden club members weeded, planted begonias and mulched the Blue Star Memorial Garden at Crofton Library. Project Chair Don Pogue has spent many months preparing the Native Garden area for planting. Don and garden club members are making great progress with this new club project.
Dr. Bruce Peterjohn, Chief of the US Geological Survey Bird Banding Laboratory at the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, provided an expert overview of the fascinating nature of the hummingbird at our May meeting. May Baskets adorn the homes of many CVGC members in celebration of May Day. Marcia Richard, Nancy Pervicall and Beverly Frye visited homes to take photos and acknowledge member participation. Thank you to all who displayed a basket for the community to enjoy!
