The program concluded with a short walk and rededication at the new Village Green Memorial Garden site. ​

Thank you to our hostesses, Laura Austin, Heather Marken, C.J. Salisbury, Carol Buhr, and Jessica Kruse. They did a fabulous job welcoming members back to an exciting new year of informative programs.

Project Chair Lynne Malley, Interim President Trish Demers, and members Margo Antonelli, Angela DeLuca, Pat Stevenson and Littany Hollerbach oversaw the new CVGC Memorial Garden installation at the Village Green. Don Fletcher of Marty Mows and his team of men handled the physical installation of the garden, while club members offered their expertise on plant placement and planting techniques. It was extremely rewarding to see the garden come together with everyone’s contributions! The collaborative effort of Don Fletcher and his team, along with the club members' guidance, truly made a difference in bringing the memorial garden to life. The plants installed include:

• Sweet Potato Vine ’Sweet Georgia Heart Purple’
• Juniper ‘Blue Rug’
• Petunia ’Supercal Premium Cinnamon’
• Petunia ’Supercal Premium Sunset Orange’
• Carex ‘Bunny Blue’
• Purple Fountain Grass ‘Rubrum’
• Arborvitae ‘Emerald Petite’
• Winterberry ‘Winter Red'
• Ajuga ‘Burgundy Glow'

There are still a few seasonal plant varieties that weren't available at the time of installation and will need to be added at a later date, including the Iris which will be a focal point of the garden. Once these are in place, the garden will be complete.

Interim President Trish Demers along with Project Chair Lynne Malley and her committee gather to place the CVGC time capsule at its new location on the Village Green. Lynne Malley had the honor of placing the capsule into the vault and Littany Hollerbach and daughters take a peek before the vault is sealed.

Crofton Village Garden Club members Littany Hollerbach and Angela DeLuca meet with Dr. Davies and Dr. Sroka to remove the memorial plaque from the original in-ground capsule chamber and assess the depth of the original foundation.

Dr. Sroka and Dr. Davies prepare the hole for the new capsule chamber. Once the ground is level, a foundation frame is built and laid, and the concrete is poured.

The time capsule will be placed at the new location when the vault is completed.

The Village Green Memorial Garden located along Crofton Parkway was planted in 2008 by the club. The garden consists of native and ornamental plants as well as a memorial plaque that honors members of the club who have passed away.  

For several years, it has been discussed that the location is undesireable as it isn't easy to access. Project Chair Lynne Malley formed a committee and they met with the Village Green Board to discuss a new location on the Village Green for the garden.
