HAMMOND-HARWOOD HOUSECrofton Village Garden Club members Debbie Nicholson, Tish Smith, Sue Hoge, Diane Harvey, and Marie Bryer brought holiday warmth and historical charm to the upstairs study chamber at the Hammond-Harwood House in Annapolis. This year’s theme, “At Home with the Harwoods – An 1835 Christmas,” inspired a display rich with period-appropriate details. Members thoughtfully arranged antique textiles throughout the room, including a handcrafted quilt, a vintage rag doll, a knitted Christmas stocking, and a girl’s muff, giving a sense of a family Christmas from the early 19th century. The mantel was elegantly adorned with faux greenery and vibrant red berries, adding a festive and natural touch to the historic setting. On the hearth, an antique copper coal shuttle filled with pine cones sat beside faux tabletop trees tied with cheerful plaid bows. Ice skates and a wooden sled completed the cozy winter scene, with the sled topped by a stunning basket arrangement of greens and berries handcrafted by Tish Smith. The overall display offered visitors a glimpse into the spirit of an 1835 holiday celebration, blending creativity, historical appreciation, and seasonal beauty. STATE CIRCLEEach year, Crofton Village Garden Club proudly joins other District II garden clubs in a cherished tradition—decorating State Circle in Annapolis with fresh evergreen wreaths for the holiday season. This collaborative effort brings festive cheer to Maryland’s capital and highlights the unity and creativity of garden clubs across the region. Representing CVGC, members Glenna Kidd and JoAnn Cook crafted the beautiful wreaths and delivered them on behalf of the club, helping to spread holiday spirit while showcasing their dedication to community beautification and seasonal celebration.
