Crofton Village Garden Club received the Flower Show Achievement Award from the National Garden Clubs (NGC) for our 60's Flower Power Standard Flower Show held in May 2024. This award, represented by a large purple ribbon, is given to member organizations that present a well-executed Standard Flower Show, achieving a combined score of 95 points or more from an evaluating panel.
The 2024 show captured the lively spirit of the 1960s through thoughtful floral designs and careful planning. Several members of the Flower Show Committee were present to be photographed with the award, representing the many club members whose efforts made the show possible. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to this event and to the visitors who shared in the enjoyment of the show. This recognition reflects the dedication and collaboration of our entire club. CVGC First Vice President Diane Smith with Trish Lilek-Demers Littany Hollerbach with CCA President Anna O'Kelly (croftoncommunity.org) Honoring Outstanding Leadership and Community Service
Crofton Village Garden Club proudly celebrates two of its members for their exceptional leadership and service to both the club and the Crofton community. Trish Lilek-Demers has been recognized as the 2025 recipient of the Bernie Robertson Award. When the club’s president stepped down, Trish graciously assumed the responsibilities of both President and First Vice President for the 2023–2025 term. Her dedication, calm leadership, and unwavering commitment truly reflect the spirit of service this award honors. Named in memory of longtime member Bernie Robertson, the award recognizes a Crofton Village Garden Club member who exemplifies exceptional service, leadership, and dedication to the club and community. Littany Hollerbach has been selected as the 2025 Crofton Civic Association Citizen of the Year. Littany’s leadership shines through in her work across our community gardens, from the Blue Star Memorial Garden and the Village Green Memorial Garden to the pollinator-friendly spaces and park plantings — and in her volunteer support of students at Crofton Woods Elementary School, where she collaborates with the ECO Club on a campus garden project. Her quiet diligence, community spirit, and passion for our town make her a truly deserving recipient. Both members were honored at the Greater Crofton Awards Banquet at Blue Dolphin Seafood Bar & Grill. Hosted by the Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce, this annual event celebrates individuals and organizations who make outstanding contributions to the Crofton community. Crofton Village Garden Club received a Schedule Award for Second Place from the Central Atlantic Region of State Garden Clubs (CAR-SGC) for the 2024 NGC Standard Flower Show, 60’s Flower Power.
Special recognition goes to Sally Moore, Co-Chair of the Flower Show Committee, who wrote the award-winning schedule. Appreciation is also extended to committee members Beverly Frye, Shirley Levendoski, Paula Moratto, Littany Hollerbach, Cindy Hansen, Angela DeLuca, Doris Smith, Diane Smith, and Nancy Percivall for their creativity, planning, and teamwork in producing a successful and memorable show. Also acknowledged—though not pictured—are committee members Margo Antonelli and Mary Ann Cannone, and Co-Chair Glenna Kidd, whose contributions were equally valuable to the show’s success. Awards Chair Littany Hollerbach announced that our “60’s Flower Power” Standard Flower Show received recognition from National Garden Clubs. This award highlights the creativity, teamwork, and dedication that went into making the show such a vibrant success.
In addition, our own Nancy Percivall was honored with the CAR-SGC Member of Honor Award. This recognition is presented to members who have helped their clubs “grow and bloom” through continuous support of goals and objectives. Nancy’s enthusiasm and service to Crofton Village Garden Club have long embodied this spirit, and we are thrilled to see her contributions celebrated on a larger stage. Congratulations to all who made the Flower Show a success, and to Nancy for this well-deserved honor! Diane Smith, First Vice President of the Crofton Village Garden Club, was presented with the esteemed District II Perennial Bloom Award by District II Director Laura Spoeri and Assistant Director Jenny Henry.
This award recognizes long-time garden club members who, like the faithful perennials in a garden, have helped their clubs grow and thrive through years of dedication. By serving as officers and committee chairs, these members plant the seeds for garden club programs and events, inspiring others to nurture and sustain them. Their leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment ensure the continued success of their clubs. Diane’s nomination was submitted by CVGC Awards Chairman Littany Hollerbach, highlighting her ongoing commitment and invaluable contributions to the club. Through her years of service, she has helped support and advance CVGC’s initiatives, making a lasting impact on both the club and the community. The Crofton Village Garden Club is proud to celebrate Diane’s well-deserved recognition and appreciates her unwavering dedication. |
