Our annual community yard sale fundraiser at Prince of Peace was a successful event. Despite the hot weather, shoppers turned out in great numbers. From jewelry and purses to household treasures, there was truly something for everyone, and every purchase helps support our ongoing projects and programs. We are grateful to our community for your generous support. Your participation makes a real difference in helping us continue our initiatives.
A very special thank-you goes to Sandy Robertson for her leadership and dedication, as well as to Shirley Levendoski for her work gathering jewelry for the sale, and Paula Morrato for organizing purses and scarves. We also extend heartfelt appreciation to all of our members who generously donated items and to the many volunteers who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm. Mother Nature treated us to a beautiful day for our garden tour. Attendees enjoyed the self-guided tour through eight gardens within the Crofton community – from highly pruned and manicured to lush and whimsical. This fundraising event would not have been possible without the homeowners who opened their gardens to us. GARDEN 1 • Creative Containers – Examples of hypertufa plant containers were on display at this beautifully manicured yard. GARDEN 2 • Capturing a Garden – CVGC member Denise Frey captures her vision of the beautiful landscaping in this garden. GARDEN 3 • A Hidden Treasure – The Stonegate Nature Trail, created by CVGC Horticulture Chair Nancy Percivall, is a hidden treasure among the homes of Stonegate. The whimsical trail encourages visitors to connect with Mother Nature. GARDEN 4 • All Things Cherry Blossom – CVGC members create a "pink experience" giving guests the opportunity to immerse into Japanese culture and learn the art of Ikebana while enjoying refreshments. GARDEN 5 • Meet the Pollinators – The guest of honor in this garden is the queen bee and her devoted hive of pollinators. Educational boards were located throughout the gardens and each attendee received a native plant. GARDEN 6 • Peaceful Easy Feeling – This garden owner has created a backyard oasis that invites you to surrender your thoughts and relax within the beauty of nature. GARDEN 7 • I'll Take One of Each – Through many years of carefully curated searching and purchasing, this garden owner has created a garden that is unique in every sense of the word. GARDEN 8 • It's A Pool Party! – This garden is the perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon with family and friends. In a nod to the beneficial insects in our gardens, ladybugs were strategically placed throughout the garden area inviting guests to find them.
The Crofton Village Garden Club Yard Sale Fundraiser held on Saturday, September 10 at Prince of Peace was a huge success thanks to members Sandy Robertson and Shirley "Jewelry Queen" Levendoski. Both Sandy and Shirley spent countless hours preparing for the sale. Both ladies had a dedicated team of volunteers who also helped prepare for this event.
Thank you to all of the members who donated items and jewelry for the sale, to Mike Robertson, Jim Gallagher and David Cook for helping with the heavy lifting – it made the event so much easier, and to Prince of Peace for providing the perfect venue. Crofton Village Garden Club proudly participated in the flea market at the Crofton Cherry Blossom Festival, offering a variety of gently used items. Members staffed the table throughout the event, engaging with festival-goers and sharing information about the club’s ongoing efforts to beautify the community. The event was not only a wonderful opportunity to connect with residents but also a meaningful fundraiser.
All proceeds from the flea market sale will go directly toward purchasing additional cherry trees for the Crofton Cherry Trees Project, an initiative led by the club to enhance the scenic beauty of Crofton Parkway. By adding more cherry trees each year, the club helps create a lasting legacy of natural beauty that can be enjoyed by generations to come, especially during the annual spring bloom. Thanks to all of you who donated your treasures for the jewelry sale the club held at the District II Semi-Annual Meeting at the Comfort Inn on Friday, October 12. Three tables adorned with earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings were the highlight of the meeting. Thanks to member Shirley Levendoski who collected, sorted, cleaned and stored the jewelry. And thanks to her team who displayed and marketed the items.
Jewelry is still being collected, so contact Shirley to let her know that you have items. The next sale will be at the Holiday Luncheon in December. The sales of the jewelry will be Cash and Carry. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used for the CVGC 50th Anniversary celebration that will take place in April 2019. |
