Crofton Village Garden Club chooses a local charitable organization, military unit deployed overseas, if possible, or any entity within the neighboring Crofton communities needing assistance during the holiday season.
Project Chair Linda Childs announced the recipient of this year's Operation Christmas donation will again be the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. Donations are down this year, yet the need is just as great. If you would like to donate, the address is: Anne Arundel County Food Bank P.O. 650 Crownsville, MD 21032 Led by Project Chair CJ Salisbury, Crofton Village Garden Club members decorate for the holidays a number of venues within the community. Beautiful live greens with festive red bows adorn several public schools, Crofton Library, the Village Green and Town Hall.
Thank you to CJ and her husband Palmer for hanging the wreaths at the Village Green, to Carol Buhr for attaching the bows and assisting in hanging the wreaths, to Margo Antonelli, Diane Gallow, Jane McClanahan and Angela Silverstein for delivering wreaths to the schools, the library and Town Hall. Crofton Village Garden Club is sponsoring a flag in the Flags for Heroes event organized by the Crofton Kiwanis. The Flags for Heroes program is a patriotic display of US flags around Lake Louise on Route 3 giving special recognition to veterans and first responders. The program has become a Crofton tradition. The flags will be displayed from November 5 to 12, 2022.
Project Chair Jane McClanahan oversees the installation of four Yoshimo cherry trees, marking the completion of a pledge Crofton Village Garden Club made to the Crofton Triangle community in 2014 to plant 50 new trees. The environmental impact, as well as the beautifying effect made this project most desirable for the club.
Thank you to Andy's Landscaping for doing a great job planting the last few trees! Eden Tree stepped up to help Crofton Village Garden Club with the planting of four more Yoshino cherry trees. We continue our endeavor of beautifying Crofton.
