PROGRAM: Explore the Wonders of the Hummingbird
At our May meeting, Dr. Bruce Peterjohn, Chief of the US Geological Survey Bird Banding Laboratory at the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, gave an insightful presentation on the captivating nature of hummingbirds. Members were fascinated to learn about the hummingbird's migration patterns and how these tiny creatures navigate across vast distances. Dr. Peterjohn also shared valuable tips on how to create an inviting and sustaining habitat for hummingbirds in our own gardens. By planting nectar-rich flowers and providing proper feeders, members learned how they can help support these amazing birds during their journeys.
