Several CVGC members attended the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland (FGCMD) Annual Meeting and Standard Flower Show, Planting Maryland from the Mountains to the Ocean, held at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City. It was a day filled with celebration, recognition, and inspiration for garden club members from across the state. CVGC President Glenna Kidd proudly accepted the 2017 Evelyn M. Cotton Maryland Conservation Award on behalf of the club in honor of their environmental efforts—specifically, the installation of a native plant border at the Crofton Community Library. This project not only beautified the library grounds but also demonstrated the club's strong commitment to sustainable landscaping practices and supporting local pollinators. Additionally, member Harriet Kiilehua was recognized with the 2017 Presidential Award for her outstanding contributions and tireless work in making the Deck the Halls with Holiday Magic fundraiser a resounding success. Her dedication to organizing and executing the event, along with her attention to detail and creativity, helped raise crucial funds to support the club’s community projects. The event highlighted the passion and leadership within CVGC and underscored the club’s ongoing commitment to conservation, education, and community beautification. Members Sally Moore, Nancy Percivall, and Beverly Frye handled the staging for the flower show, setting the scene for a successful and visually stunning event. Their attention to detail helped highlight the creativity and skill of all participants.
CVGC members Glenna Kidd, Bonnie Pavlak, and Marcia Richard proudly brought home blue ribbons for their outstanding horticulture entries, showcasing not only their gardening expertise but also the club’s commitment to excellence. Comments are closed.
