Skimmia japonica PROGRAM: Four Seasons of Interest
We were fortunate to have Eva Monheim—horticulturist, certified arborist, master floral designer, artist, and writer—lead a Zoom presentation on the "Four Seasons of Interest." Eva shared her expertise on creating a garden that offers something blooming throughout the entire year, which not only enlivens the soul but also encourages us to connect with nature in all seasons. She emphasized the importance of selecting plants that bloom even in winter, offering sweet fragrances that can be felt in the winter breeze. However, Eva also highlighted the significance of choosing plants for every season, ensuring that gardens remain visually engaging year-round. During the presentation, Eva provided attendees with a list of plants that are well-suited to the Maryland climate. She discussed how these plants contribute to the beauty of the landscape and their vital role in providing habitat and food sources for wildlife, as well as benefits for humans. Her insightful talk reminded everyone that creating a garden for all seasons not only enhances our environment but also supports local ecosystems. Comments are closed.
