PROGRAM: Frosty Winter Floral Design Workshop Crofton Village Garden Club Past Presidents Marcia Richard and Sally Moore, along with member Claudia West, led an engaging floral design workshop and lecture focused on the difference between traditional and creative designs. The session provided members with a comprehensive understanding of the principles behind both styles, giving them a deeper appreciation for floral design as an art form. Marcia, Sally, and Claudia discussed the key characteristics of traditional designs, which tend to follow more structured guidelines, emphasizing symmetry, balance, and the use of specific flower types. In contrast, creative designs break away from these conventions, allowing for greater freedom in form, color, and arrangement. Creative designs often incorporate unexpected elements and unconventional techniques, encouraging individual expression and experimentation. Following the lecture, members had the opportunity to apply what they had learned by creating their own floral arrangements. With guidance from the instructors, participants put their newly acquired skills into practice, experimenting with both traditional and creative approaches. The workshop was a wonderful opportunity for members to explore their creativity while honing their floral design techniques in a supportive and inspiring environment.
