HORTICULTURE TOPIC: Hosta La Vista
Nancy Percivall, Committee Chair for Horticulture, shared valuable insights on the many varieties of hostas and how to care for them. Hosta plants, known for their striking foliage rather than their flowers, are the perfect addition to any garden, especially in shady areas. Nancy explained how hostas can thrive in low-light conditions, making them ideal for areas where other plants might struggle. She also emphasized the importance of selecting the right variety based on leaf color, size, and texture, which can add visual interest and texture to a garden year-round. Following her presentation, members participated in a hosta plant exchange, allowing everyone to diversify their gardens with new varieties. The versatility of hostas shines through in their ability to transform even the dullest shaded area into an elegant, low-maintenance space that looks beautiful from spring through fall. With so many unique types available, hostas are an easy way to create a lush, appealing garden with minimal effort. Comments are closed.
