PROGRAM: How Bugs Make the World Go Around
Members explored the wonders of their garden’s hidden ecosystem during a fascinating presentation by Dr. Michael Raupp, Professor Emeritus of Entomology and Extension Specialist at the University of Maryland. Widely recognized as “The Bug Guy” through his appearances on television, radio, and in print media, Dr. Raupp revealed the vital roles insects play in supporting ecosystem services, connecting food webs, pollinating plants, and providing natural pest control. Gardens, often buzzing with life, are home to an incredible variety of these small creatures whose impact extends far beyond the backyard. Through Dr. Raupp’s engaging insights, members gained a deeper appreciation for the essential roles insects play in sustaining the health and balance of the garden—and the world around us.
